LOC'N Now What?

THE JOURNEY

As you begin this loc journey, it may be easy to look upon the locs of others and experience envy or anxiousness. However, the journey you have decided to embark upon is yours and yours alone. It may have highs and lows and some uncertainty along the way, but it will be your story to share and experience. I am here to guide and help you bring out the beauty of your locs.


LOC PHASES

  • Baby Loc/Pre Loc: Shiny

  • Budding: bulb-like formations along the length of loc; swelling and excessive frizz

  • Shooting: bulb-like formations extend upward/downward of the loc; swelling begins to condense; frizz is less intense

  • Rooted: loc density increases; gravity forces locs downward showing mature locs

  • Atrophy: after several years loc ’d, lower ends of locs may thin out; common in color treated locs. Periodic trims at helpful


DOS:

+ Wrap you hair nightly & satin pillowcase in the event your wrap comes off during the night

+ Moisturize your locs regularly

+ Embrace the process and enjoy all the upcoming changes of your locs


DON'TS:

+ Wrap your hair with cotton fabrics; unless during excessive sweating, ie. working out.

+ Neglect your locs and deprive them of moisture/hydration

+ Compare/Envy other people’s loc journey to the detriment of your own journey
